FRIDAY STIR FRY - NaNo Thoughts and Other Stuff

I'm not gonna lie. It's been a rough week of NaNo. I was hoping to get way ahead last weekend. Didn't happen. Stayed barely above daily word count. And then yesterday, I hit a wall. Just couldn't do it. Couldn't get up early before work, couldn't write during lunch and last night only got maybe twenty words. Some would say that's something. I say it stinks. Ahh, the trials and tribulations of NaNo.

The bright side - I think I've added some good stuff to the novel I'm working on. And I have all weekend to write and we are off work Tuesday for Veteran's Day. Thank you veterans!

On a different note, I'm a little angry. Why you ask? Because we are going to get blasted with cold air next week. I think I've mentioned this before but in case you missed it -
I HATE WINTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I hate the cold, the sleet, the snow, the ice. Did I mention the cold?  Okay, I feel a little better now. Just a little.

If you are doing NaNo, let me know in the comments how it is going for you. And if you kept your sanity and are not doing it, comment about anything you like. I love hearing from you.

  1. Ah, NaNo. There is not rest for MLs. But at this point, I have today +500 to make up. So, {sigh} maybe 2500 words will bring me up to the goal. There is a write-in tonight but I may just do a virtual one and let the coML handle it. It's her night anyway and I can go online and do a virtual one with the same group. LOL They're good and we get high word counts out of them.

You should join my region as an other region and do some of our online write ins! You'll have fun with that.

    1. Our local group consists of a bunch of college kids and all they talk about is gaming. I tried going a few years back but got tired of the nonsense I'm not really a write-in person anyway. Mainly because I forget about them. :-)

    2. Well, our group is a wide age range, tending mostly to over 30. The virtual write-in are geared to heavy writing but it is the short sprints that really get the numbers up. We write 20 minutes and compare word counts afterward. It's the only thing that saved me last year and I had a dozen other people say the same. This past week, I was going down fast but that kept me afloat. I'm current right now but still have to do today's count. Tomorrow, I'll be doing a live one and will do a virtual one tomorrow night. I'm learning to prefer the virtual ones. I can sit in my PJs, with my fuzzy slippers, warm blankie, hot chocolate and write and chat with the group.

(If you get bored or behind... come join me.) If you do go it alone, try short burst of 15-20 minutes and use a timer. Try to beat your best time. I think you'll be surprised. They have word wars on the site too.

  2. Meant to say, my online write ins this week netted me over a 1000 words each.

  3. I'm not participating this year (again). I'm trying to finish my current WIP and don't have time. Maybe next year...
